South America

We visited Argentina to tour tea and timber operations.  The food was incredible.  And in the Northern part the Spanish spoken was very proper, Catalan Spanish.  Needless to say my California Spanish was laughed at.  I loved the road signs, LOMO DE BURRO…The back of the burro!  My Spanish DID come back during the week we visited.  AND, if you are a vegetarian in Argentina, FORGET IT!

Visited our asparagus growers and packers in Southern Peru in 2004.  Very dusty and dry.  Water for irrigation is fed from the Andes mountain range.  The growing area was expanding because of the mountain fed water!  Asparagus is called by the farmers, GRASS.
